Each August Bank Holiday sees the Alvis Fighting vehicles Society host its Annual Show near Dunchurch . This year saw over 300 vehicles being displayed covering pretty much every decade since war became mechanised.
The field was filled with enthusiastic re-enactors dressed in period gear to match their vehicles which were the focus of the show.
Guests were wowed with displays ranging from modern day rescue techniques to demonstrations of firepower to beautifully choreographed dancing by 8 ton tanks…..
Saturday the 1st of July saw the racecourse at Leicester hosting a vintage festival with a swathe of stalls, entertainment and cars to see. Staff and members of the public embraced this and were dressed in period clothing from the 1950’s.
Those brave enough were able to learn dance moves and strut their stuff in the dance tent accompanied by live music. For others it was an opportunity to bask in the gorgeous sunshine and remember a bygone age.
Coventry hosted some pre-audition auditions for Britains Got Talent at Millsys Cafe Bar on the 20th October 2016 and some of Coventry’s finest unsigned talent showed up to give it their best. Unfortunately we won’t know until early next year who was successful in their rounds but we wish them all the best in this round and the regional rounds taking place over the next couple of months. Who knows you could be looking at the stars of tomorrow right now!
Some pictures of the very talented Kiaya Lyons closing the outdoor part of the Crownfest festival in aid of Coventry MIND, supporting mental health for over 50 years.
Closing day of this two day festival at the Old Crown Pub in Coventry
We are just getting out of the the depths of winter now and spring clothes are starting to hit the high street….however the retailers are currently shopping for the Autumn Winter range!
Moda Exhibitions hosts the trade fair for fashion retailers and February sees the Autumn Winter Fashion showcase, here retailers can choose from the huge range of designers showcasing their clothing and accessory ranges.
This year seems to be bucking the trend of autumn clothing following autumnal colours with a swathe of bright colours and bold designs to warm up any chilly day.
LEO GUY showcased their knitwear, bringing a dash of french fashion to deliciously luxurious knitwear
Italian brand Elisa Cavaletti once again didn’t fail to impress with their range of beautifully tailored clothing, I was particularly taken by this piece which would be at home both on the high street and when dressing to impress.
James Lakeland (rapidly becoming one of my favourite designers) opening collection included this bold gradient coat, echoing the interest in geometric shapes and bold designs we are seeing.
Amongst other autumn fashion we are likely to be seeing the use of fur, both real and faux. Faux fur is today almost indistinguishable from the real thing, which is a great stride forwards in the ethical treatment of animals.
Here we see a great design by James Lakeland where he has blended traditional autumnal themes with bold lines and trimmed it with a luxurious fur trim. This is a design which cannot help but get you noticed.
a couple of shots from the MCM Comic Con at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. First day seemed to have a large showing from the Star Wars and Planet of the Apes films. Overall standard of costume was incredible (although sadly I didnt recognise many) with Anime featuring heavily.
There is always something quite intimidating about Storm Troopers even when you know they are only role playing….For more images from this weekend please click here and for details of MCM please click here
I have recently become involved with a local studio called Digimon based in coventry. Whilst still a fledgeling photographic studio, they have great experience with video and offer a range of video facilities including editing and green screen.
It has been my pleasure to assist them with photographer / model experience days where models and photographers get the chance to network, plan and create new images. It is different from the usual group shoot days as it is restricted in numbers allowing everyone to get the images they want.
Recently was lucky enough to shoot for a local designer Viv Whelan , with my regular co-shooter Jenny Wren and our trust make up artist Georgina Thomas. Adding to the team we recruited Helen and Emma Cureton for their exemplary hairstyling skills. Add to that some bespoke jewellery designed by Melody RS Berry and some tiara’s by Lucy Brown of All Things Lucy and we are good to go… Oops apart from needing a location….grateful thanks to Menzies Hotel Stratford…surely now we are ready to go?
Apparently not…models, always need models and for this we recruiting the vey accomplished Gina Underhill and relative newcomer Lauren Swash, accompanied by Jenny’s daughter Lucy.
And thus our full team was born and so we began to create the magic.
From the luxury of gold we drift seductively across to the mystery of the far east, timeless and classic with a twist
or maybe for that special day, a wedding dress that is both classic and modern, flattering the figure and showing off the legs with a simple yet stylish cut?
Images were all shot by Paul Hastie, Vision of You photography, Coventry.
Or how about we take a trip back to the glamour of the 50s when style was key, classic good looks and style blended in perfect harmony?
Recently I spent some time in London covering some of the off schedule shows at London Fashion Week 2013.
I took along on the last day one of my regular models to do some street images I had been wanting to capture for a while. I love the area around brick lane due to it not only being the heart of london fashion but also because of the diversity of the surroundings.
Indeed while we were there we saw two other shoots taking place!
Obviously shooting in Urban areas comes with its own unique problems. There were the builders who drove past us 3 times to ask for directions….the abandoned house which obviously wasn’t when the owner opened the door or the 20 french school kids who wanted to watch our shoot taking place!
All images taken by Paul Hastie, Vision of You, a Coventry based photographer.
Our lovely model for the day was Jodi.
Brick Lane served as our location for these shots, a complete contrast to the mean streets of Coventry and I feel they appear Italian for some reason? What do you think?
