One of the highlights for models, dancers and designers is the Clothes Show Live at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. Unlike the Fashion Weeks around the world this is very much public facing and showcases direct to the public (who can often buy the designs they see on the catwalk on site).
One of the highlights is the main catwalk show, which is 45 minutes of very high energy dance and fashion, this years theme was New York and the choreographer (Andy Turner) outdid himself this year. Viewers were taken on a roller coaster of emotions, starting with the life of an office worker racing through partying at Coney Island, a New York Fashion Week catwalk show and ending with the awe inspiring Gotham inspired scene which raised gasps from the audience.
A regular designer showcased on the catwalk is Alice Vandy and I think followers of her designs were awed by her designs this year, her My Little Pony range made a welcome return but the final Gotham scene was where it dominated with a move to the more dark side. This was Alice Vandy for the nightmare generation, oozing sexiness and dark undertones.
